THIRSTING for WISDOM ~
putting intellectual humility into practice…
As the world becomes more divided, contentious,
and challenging, the ability to reason well is essential. It may give perspective, soothe anxiety during trying times, and infuse sound judgement when matters get heated.
Being wise is a characteristic that one must learn by experience; it is not a natural quality. Wisdom can come to anyone who is open to exploring new ideas and thinking critically about the process.
You can develop into a wiser person by studying as much as you can, reflecting on your experiences,
and applying what you have learned. When we are able to absorb information and use it to guide our judgements, knowledge turns into wisdom. As they say, "Wisdom listens, but Knowledge speaks." Good judgement is a blessing for those who are wise.
If we consider our acts and their effects, experience may be a great teacher. At that point, we stop being
a mere reaction to events and start carefully considering what we do. We grow in knowledge and proficiency as we go along. The secret to change is to reflect on our actions.
To be wise, one must combine deep understanding, experience, and knowledge with a tolerance for
life's uncertainties. An understanding of how events unfold across time bestows a sense of equilibrium.
It is important to have the traits that enable one to overcome obstacles, respond logically to various circumstances, and provide the greatest outcomes
for both the individual and the community.
While everyone aspires to be smart, only a select
few truly possess the basic attributes of wisdom—such as endurance, patience, thorough reasoning, and the ability to consider all options when making
a decision.
Being fully conscious of the fact that there are others with more knowledge, demonstrating humility, the cornerstone of real wisdom, earns respect and affection. Being open to the outside world, tolerant
of individual differences, and making the most of those differences can all help you handle situations in the most effective way.
You will stand out from the crowd if you consider all the options and priorities and have the knowledge, experience, common sense, and insight to make wise selections. People who are able to overcome challenges as a result of experiencing social or psychological crises tend to become more stoic and wiser.
Accept individuals without judging them for who they are or altering your perspective on them. I take it that you also want others to accept you for who you are, without requiring you to change? It helps since it will make you feel content with life by introducing some significant traits that you can live with.
Take ownership of your decisions and actions, and have the guts to live with the results of your choices. In order to grow smart, you must accept responsibility for your actions and avoid making excuses or placing the blame for your mistakes on other people. Failure should not be an easy experience for you yet draw lessons from the events you have throughout your life.
While consequences force you to make the error
first, wisdom teaches you the lesson before you
make the mistake.
